travel the caribbean aruba around the island

We toured much of the island of Aruba in a rental jeep in 1992.
This desert island has several interesting areas including an old gold mine, deserted, rocky beaches, and open space.
Since our 1992 visit, there seems to have been a concerted effort to "tourize" the island.

Renting a jeep allowed us to visit a deserted gold mine and beaches on both sides of the island, Aruba, Netherland Antilles, 1992.

Near California Lighthouse on the nw coast among the rocks, dust, and free-range goats, was a large sign advertising
a new golf course community designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., soon to come, Aruba, Netherland Antilles, 1992.

This beautiful beach on the undeveloped windward side of the island had the unfortunate attribute of.
collecting all the floating garbage and flotsam that entered the water from northern South America.
Behind me, along the sunlit shore, where numerous plastic containers and a hypodermic needle.
